Here's an idea I had - for artists worried about AIart.
And I do mean professionals with high skill and modern knowledge of digital tools:
Posted from my DeviantArt page
The long and short is that IF you are willing to work with people, say charging a small amount to work on their hands and faces and other kooky stuff the AI engines leave - I will for FREE put a thumbnail with link on this and other pages. The whole purpose of "Attack of the Robot Barbarians" is to show Indie TTRPG designers and indie Authors how to use AIArt for making illustrations for their games and stories. This is due to extreme diffiuclty a buddy of mine had even during lockdown requesting (with money ready to spend) hired art for the Orange Sun/Far Tomorrows TTRPG project. We had trouble hiring anyone and it seemed to be a collection of very lazy people that inflated their skills or "Pros" that claimed to have too much work but a few confided that they were afraid the big players in the 'industry' would blacklist them - for working for competition. Prove us WRONG. Let me post your links, as this site gets more popular you will see more queries for fixit art since not everyone can even do the Affinity Photo editing here and a few $ to someone else is worth the time in exchange for services. I will not charge you and any agreements are between you and the client. This is my blog so I can edit or move/remove anything - but I won't unless I shut the project down or there's good reason to otherwise.
Again, if you are a PRO - able to draw fast and use modern digital tools:
How long would it take YOU to edit a few tiny things from these pictures to make them awesome!?
I did the above in less than 1/2 an hour in Affinity Photo 2 software and that is mostly what I'll show people how to use since its far cheaper than subscribing to Photoshop and Adobe's tools.
Let me add most of said tools would be called "AiAssist" if re-released today...
(Machine Learning, Adaptive advanced scripting...)
Instead of being aloof, unapproachable, VERY expensive to work with (or seen as such) - just FIX things and quickly and for a sane price. Be reasonably nice and professional. The Writers/designers working with you will then email back later with more and you could have a foot in the door. Imagine someone who generates video game sprites enquires if you'd put them on a formatted sprite sheet for a DIY Engine (unity, gamemaker, RPGmaker, IFAction game maker...) and you do so - then expand "You know, I could add a few frames of animation each, or a walk cycle...? Estimate $----?"
This is not asking you to work for less, rather finding a simple niche. The niche can make money in a place you'd rarely find it without this feature. It keeps you active and gives you many new clients and references.
Let me add, giving myself a "Master of the Obvious" medal here - you shouldn't advertise your politics in any conversation with 3rd party clients nor involve them. It works both ways, it should not matter to you, them nor anyone if you do G-rated children's work one week or ...let me be delicate... cartoons for a "Mature" environment for a magazine published by a recently passed man in a wheelchair the next? Unless someone pays enough to be a very good salary and expects exclusive work and you've signed on, which then means you should not be freelancing. If your work is 90% your own but you dabble, flip a switch and become a neutral "Pro" during that time. "Artsy" people (including Writers) are notoriously eccentric, but today's world is especially brutal and uncaring and you need to check yourself. That's awful and unfair, I agree 100% but its reality. "Prove me wrong" here, please!
Anyways, I do want a chance to get peaceful here - the site is to fill a niche:
TTRPG designers who have had great trouble finding Illustrators to help them.
Use of AIArt is meant more to replace the "Adult Babies" a friend dealt with trying to hire them. Prove us wrong, that we only had bad "Die rolls" and many real pros we just missed!
On request - email - I'll put up a logo with a link to your website or email and if you ever need to change it, just email me. FREE. I do NOT expect a % of your earnings nor to set prices. AI is not to be used to cheapen your art, this is taking work you'd very likely NOT be offered and the 'fixit' should be quick for you and reasonable to the clients. Artists tend to be more reasonable with people they regularly interact with so they know they'll be compensated and have a feel for what the client wants, you'll be able to get new clients here.
Prove me wrong, be reachable, professional, good to work with!
Beneath this line I hope to place a bunch of artist thumbnails - which I'll pepper later in my advice articles also. Just so anyone reading through the site knows there are people who will work with a TTRPG designer, indie author, indie games maker! Email me at: maximus@maxxferal.com
Thumbnails here - your own art with name/alias email me with it and link and image (jpeg, gif or png), NO scripts or HTML inserts - I'll link a website or email. All interactions between artists and clients, not responsible otherwise.

We welcome comments, especially friendly and constructive communication and advice. In opposition to the toxicity on most 'social media' we'll certainly allow complaint and criticism but reserve the right to remove, block or ban anything if it doesn't contribute, is spam or is just harassment. We'd like some day where people can disagree on things without being enemies.
